Shoot the Zombies

August 9, 2010

We did it again….

Last Saturday, a rainy day here in little Austria, we shot our third music video for the
Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space.
“Dr. Freudstein”, a track off their current album was chosen to be made into a video, visually an adaption of “Take on me”.
More as the project develops.

We shot in Baden, at the local film school’s Studio B.
Very special thanks to Frederick Füssel for his kind support.
Measuring 36 by 30 feet and elevating to a nice 24 feet, it’s the biggest green screen stage in Austria.
Yeah – we had a lot of fun!!

A big thank you goes out to the SAE Vienna as well, since Philipp chose this project to be his final project for the graduation, we got to play around with a lot of toys we can’t have every day!

The video was shot during a busy 9 hour shoot, on our Panasonic AG-HPX 170 in 1080i25.
Second angle was shot on a Panasonic AG-HVX 200.

Among the 11 people crowding the studio were some familiar faces:
Lucas Kasper, helming the second camera as well as the making of camera.
Markus Kremser, our multi talented 3D artist – this time around as gaffer and in a very secret second position….
Silvia, our beloved angel of the culinary arts, took care of our hunger -once again exceeding every and all expectations!
Martin “the eye” Ecker, snapping a few hundred pictures due to being injured!
Philipp, producing and directing, and well, yes me handling the camera.

The band, consisting of Richy, Daniel, Hermann and Harry, oh, excuse me – Dead Gein, Mr. Evilize, Dr. Schreck and Reverend Bloodbath, plus ???, Dr. Schreck’s “personal nurse”.

Stay tuned for updates as the project develops.
Making of should be done in a few day, Lucas is a fast one!

Unplug the Zombies

August 3, 2010

Last weekend, we were shooting a concert on Friday and Saturday night, in Vienna.
The client were none other than our long time friends, the Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space.
Since they had planned to do an unplugged show for a while, we were brought on board to capture the event and put it out on DVD.

With the help of Lucas Kasper, Christoph Wanna and Andi from Eisenstadt, we shot the concert on both nights, using 5 cameras, in different setups each night.
Our main cams were two Sony Z7, our own Panasonic AG-HPX 170 and additionally we employed two camcorders to shoot insert angles.

We shot between HDV and HD (1080i25), but the final format on the DVD will be MPEG2 SD 16:9.
The DVD is due out for the end of the year (current status).

We will either edit on Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, or Avid Media Composer 5 – due to their multi format handling skills.

More news will follow while the projects develops, for now, we leave you with some quick peaks behind the scenes.

Return of the Dead

July 12, 2010

No, we were not really dead, radio silent yes – but well awake and alive behind the scenes, working……. well, most of the time.

Yesterday though, we did have an encounter with some of the Undead!

In cooperation with NoDA Multimedia we collaborated on the production of a short film, meant to be submitted in a recent short film competition.

The weather was nice, a little too nice if you ask some of our 30+ extras, it was quite hot….
Nonetheless, they all did a very goof job and the footage is really nice.

Until we can post the finished short, here are some pix to hold you over!

Digital Cinematography 2010

June 18, 2010

As we did last year, we again attended the tradeshow in Munich, this year however, Martin came along.
Lots to see, get a hands on experience with new gear and meet interesting people.

One of those people was Jonathan Smiles, giving a very insightful 90 minute workshop, concerning his experience with the Red camera on numerous shoots around the world.

Unfortunately last year’s tradeshow had a bit more to show off, but nonetheless, we had a great time in beautiful Bavaria for 2 days.

Until September then!

We put together a small teaser for you.

Enjoy!

Hot Stuff

May 22, 2010

Just the right project to heat up a rather cold spring for Martin and Andi.
They were asked to shoot an image film for the fire brigade of Dreistetten, during their annual trainings event.
Within 24 hours, they train for every kind of possible scenario, including technical emergencies and actual fire fighting.

Right now the video is in editing and up until the online release, later this year, you will have to settle for some still impressions.

Interactive City

May 22, 2010

APM is currently working on a very interesting compositing video for the city of Vienna. Meant for a city festival at the end of May, it should showcase the development of inner city projects, in form of a holographic display, navigated by am attractive female agent.

Quite demanding on the combined skill set of our crew, it is well underway and rather impressive.

Upon finishing, there should be a little trailer available on the blog, but in the mean time, here are some snapshots from the live action shot to hold you over.

School’s out forever?

May 22, 2010

Who would have thought that we would be back in school ever again?
Yeah, for a job orientation week, Philipp and Andi were asked to visit a middle school and talk about the various jobs involved in film making.
What an experience to be back inside a school, but this time on the other side.

After a little orientation and some boring facts, the kids were treated to a hands-on experience while filming a little interview session with their classmates.

The APM guys will return to shoot a finals project in June.
